Even Out Your Skin Tone with IPL Rejuvenation
What is IPL?
At Belle Jeunesse, we use Lumecca by InMode, a premium IPL device that penetrates deeper and delivers faster, more effective results compared to traditional IPL systems. IPL can treat the face, neck, chest, hands, and more, with minimal downtime.
Note: Lumecca is offered for skin types I-IV. For skin types V-VI, we recommend safer alternatives like light chemical peels or targeted topical treatments.

Benefits of IPL
- Reduces sun spots, age spots, and hyperpigmentation
- Minimizes redness, rosacea, and broken capillaries
- Stimulates collagen for firmer, smoother skin
- Quick treatments with no peeling or prolonged downtime
Before Your Treatment
To ensure the safest and most effective results:
- Avoid tanning (including spray tans, tanning beds, and self-tanning lotions) for at least 2–4 weeks prior to treatment.
- Photosensitive medications (some antibiotics, acne medications like Accutane, certain diuretics, etc.) may increase your risk of adverse reactions. Always discuss any prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, or supplements—including fish oil or herbal blood thinners like ginkgo—with our provider before scheduling.
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily leading up to your appointment.
What to Expect:
Before & After
During Treatment:
- Mild discomfort may be felt, often described as a brief “snap” similar to a rubber band. Cooling air and optional topical numbing cream can be used to enhance comfort.
- Treatment times vary from 15–45 minutes, depending on the area(s) treated.
After Treatment:
- Temporary redness and mild swelling are common and usually subside within 24–48 hours.
- Pigmented spots will darken and flake or fade naturally within 7–10 days.
- Makeup can typically be applied once redness resolves, ideally after moisturizing.
Downtime:
- Minimal. Most patients resume normal activities the same day, but avoid pools, saunas, hot tubs, or intense exercise for 24–48 hours.
- Strictly avoid direct sun exposure and continue SPF use daily to protect results.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
- For optimal results, most patients require a series of 3–5 treatments, spaced approximately 4 weeks apart.
- Maintenance sessions once or twice a year help sustain clear, even-toned skin.
Who is a Good Candidate?
You may be an excellent candidate for IPL if you:
- Have visible sun damage, redness, or pigmentation
- Are not currently tanned (natural or artificial)
- Are not on photosensitizing medications
- Have a skin type I–IV and realistic expectations for results
We’ll review your full medical history, medications, and skin type during your consultation to ensure IPL is the best option for your goals.
FAQs
Is a photofacial safe for all skin types?
Lumecca IPL is optimized for skin types I-IV. For deeper skin tones (V–VI), IPL may pose a risk of burns or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. We’ll recommend safer alternatives if you are not an ideal candidate.
Can I wear makeup right after IPL?
You’ll want to avoid makeup for the first 24 hours while the skin is sensitive. Once redness subsides, you may apply makeup as desired.
Can IPL be combined with other treatments?
Yes! IPL is often paired with chemical peels, HydraFacial®, or RF skin tightening for even more dramatic results.
