Before Your Laser Hair Removal Treatment
4–6 Weeks Prior
- Stop waxing, plucking, or using depilatory creams. Shaving is the only approved method.
- Avoid tanning beds, self-tanners, and prolonged sun exposure.
- Notify your provider if you start any new medications that may cause light sensitivity.
1 Week Prior
- Discontinue retinoids, glycolic/salicylic acids, and harsh exfoliants on the treatment area.
- Avoid chemical peels or other laser treatments in the same area.
24 Hours Prior
- Shave the area being treated with a clean razor.
- Do not apply lotions, oils, deodorant, or makeup on the treatment area.
Aftercare Instructions
Immediately After
- Redness, swelling, or a ‘sunburn’ feeling is normal and may last 24–48 hours.
- Use cool compresses or aloe gel for comfort.
- Avoid touching, scratching, or picking the area.
First 72 Hours
- Avoid hot showers, saunas, jacuzzis, or strenuous exercise that causes sweating.
- No direct sun exposure; apply mineral sunscreen if treated areas are exposed.
- Avoid makeup, deodorant, or fragranced products on treated areas for 24–48 hours.
First 1–2 Weeks
- Shedding of treated hairs will occur — this may look like ‘stubble.’ Do not wax or pluck; shaving is allowed.
- Exfoliate gently after Day 5 to encourage hair shedding (if advised).
- Continue strict sun protection with mineral sunscreen.
Treatment Series & Results
- Laser hair removal requires a series of 6–8 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
- Hair regrowth will appear lighter, finer, and sparser with each session.
- Maintenance treatments may be needed annually.
